Coordination of IT Services


This office coordinates the application and functioning of the automated services within the Library, with special reference to bibliographical catalogues, search engines and the relationship between descriptive data and digital resources. It is responsible for the management of the authority control archives, for determining the form of names, titles and subjects in the catalogues of printed books, of coins and medals, of manuscripts and of archival materials. It studies and develops encoding of metadata for the choice and the use of catalographic formats (MARC21, XML, Dublin Core) and is responsible for the training of all those who operate with automated systems in matters regarding the use and the encoding of the elements of descriptive data and headings. It participates in international efforts to develop bibliographical standards and catalographic norms for the electronic environment.

  • Management of catalogue data for public access
  • Maintenance of the application for the MARC21 visualization formats on the web
  • Creation of links between bibliographical descriptions and external multimedia resources (image files, URL's, etc.).
