It is possible to book your visit to the exhibition "(RE)VERSVS , reuse and redemption in the patrimony of the Vatican Library and in the art of Sidival Fila", which will take place at the Vatican Apostolic Library from April 28 to July 15, 2023 The display - that takes place in the exhibition hall of the Library - is the result of an in-depth reflection on the theme of redemption and reuse proposed by the artist within his works, and embraced by the Vatican Library by re-discovering and re-reading, once again, its heritage. Redemption vs. reuse, two ellipse’s fires that marks the sphere of possibilities that arise every time an ancient material, or simply previous or extraneous, is relocated in a new and different context.
The itinerary begins in the atrium, with a site-specific installation that leads observers to re-discover the statue of the so-called "Hippolytus", which has presided over the entrance to the Apostolic Library for five of the six centuries of its history. Then climbing the lateral turnips and the staircase, one level at a time, visitors are projected into the world of the artist's works and vision. Elegance, lightness and refinement - material and ideal - overwhelm the observer, preparing him for the following rooms. In these, the curators respond to the works of S.F. building a continuous debate, also at a spatial level, with the Library's possessions, rediscovering the eighteenth-century book restoration practice, the figure of the Marquis Capponi and that of Antonio Piaggio, seeing numerous and disparate examples of reuse in the book, numismatic, graphic and ornamental fields , from the first centuries of our era to the present day, coming from East and West.
The exhibition proceeds in two other environments that have inspired the artist two new site-specific installations, dedicated respectively to the theme of the de-functionalization of an object of use and the redemption of waste.
