Notice for donors
The Vatican Library gratefully accepts donations of books. However, it reserves the right to evaluate the pertinence
of such gifts to its own collections, and the right to exclusive use of such materials at its own discretion.
All donations will be examined by a special Commission which will decide whether or not to integrate them into the
collections, on the basis of the Library's needs and policies.
Volumes which are not received into the collections will be forwarded to other institutions which are a
better match for their contents and purpose. Donations may not be reclaimed by the donor, nor will they be returned.
Acceptance of volumes does not imply any obligation on the part of the Library regarding cataloguing or conservation.
Donors of volumes of special value or rarity are required to demonstrate their ownership and rights over the volumes.
